Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Release Date

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Release Date

What we know so far

Early in 2025 is when Samsung’s next big flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, is expected to go on sale. The Galaxy S25 Ultra will have the difficult task of recapturing the enchantment by carefully introducing enhancements and updates to the tried-and-true formula as the successor to one of the greatest Android phones currently on the market.

We have a preview of some of the most important features of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, even if it is still a long way off. Based on Samsung’s past models, we can make some educated estimates about everything else.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to include Corning’s glare-free glass and a sturdy titanium construction for further durability. It is said to have rounded corners for a sleeker look, but the design will probably maintain the flat aesthetic of the previous edition.

sense. Along with the dependable IP68 water and dust protection, you can anticipate the return of the integrated S Pen.

With its ultra-smooth 1-120Hz refresh rate, the display may remain at 6.8 inches and will most likely continue to wear a Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel. For improved visibility outside, Samsung should raise the maximum brightness even further.

It is nearly a given that Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chip will be found inside in terms of performance. Although it is relatively doubtful, there is always a chance that this processor will just be available in US devices, making place for an Exynos version elsewhere in the world.

Regarding the battery, we anticipate that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will have a longer lifespan. However, due to size limitations, we do not anticipate a significantly larger battery. Although faster wired charging would be fantastic, 45W charging support is probably going to be reinstated.

We anticipate that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will be just as expensive as the present model. To refresh your memory, the Galaxy S24 Ultra costs $1,300 for the 256GB model and $1,660 for the 1TB model.

Let’s now examine all of the speculation that surrounds the impending Galaxy S25 Ultra in more detail. Additionally, you can review all of the information that is currently available for the Samsung Galaxy S25.

Galaxy S25 Ultra release date

The Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to make its debut in January or February of 2025. This schedule aligns perfectly with Samsung’s custom of releasing its flagship series at the beginning of the year.

According to a recent report, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra series may even be revealed as early as January 5, over two weeks before the January 17 debut of the series this year.

After the formal presentation, Samsung usually delivers its new smartphones two weeks later. The actual release date may easily extend into February, depending on the scheduling.

Galaxy S25 Ultra price

Samsung has two options with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra: either raise the price or keep it the same. We find it hard to believe that Samsung will raise prices for a second consecutive year after the current Galaxy Ultra model saw a $100 price rise this year.

We’ll have to wait and see how that works out, but a recent report said that the Galaxy S25 Ultra would cost more until Samsung Foundry increases its 3nm production yields.

* Anticipated prices

There will probably be a number of methods to save money on the impending Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, including pre-ordering the phone or trading in an existing smartphone, if previous Galaxy launches are any guide. For new Samsung flagships, US carriers typically provide discounts and incentives as well. What kind of offers and prices can we anticipate from Samsung and the main carriers for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra?

  • Samsung: Samsung provided up to $750 in trade-in credits at the time of the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s introduction. You might save a lot of money on your upgrade if you have a suitable smartphone to trade in, as the Galaxy S25 Ultra is probably going to offer a similar bargain.
  • Verizon: The offers for the current model get much better if you choose a carrier plan, and they should be comparable for the upcoming model. Verizon’s Device Payment Program, for example, gives $800 off if you trade in any Samsung smartphone and choose the Unlimited Ultimate plan before placing your new purchase.
  • T-Mobile: At T-Mobile, adding a new voice line to a qualifying ONE, Magenta, or Go5G plan can result in up to $600 off through 24 monthly bill credits.
  • AT&T: This carrier has some fantastic offers, too. For instance, with the current model, you can get up to $1,000 off with a suitable

So, as you can see, there are plenty of ways to grab a flagship Galaxy smartphone at a lower price, and similar deals will likely be available for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, too.

Galaxy S25 Ultra camera

The camera specifications for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra have been “confirmed,” if we are to believe Ice Universe on X, one of the most trustworthy leakers that focuses on Samsung. Everything from megapixel counts to sensor models, pixel sizes, and optical zoom restrictions are all covered in detail here.

Here’s what the S25 Ultra is rumored to have for its four rear-facing cameras:

  • 200 MP primary Samsung Isocell HP2 sensor
  • 10 MP secondary Sony IMX754 telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom
  • 50 MP Sony IMX854 periscope telephoto sensor featuring 5x optical zoom and a 0.7 micrometer pixel size
  • 50 MP Samsung Isocell JN3 ultra-wide-angle sensor with a 0.7 micrometer pixel size

If you are familiar with the S24 Ultra’s camera specs (you can see them in the table below if not), you might find Samsung’s upgrades for its flagship a bit

So, the main hardware upgrade for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra appears to be its ultra-wide camera. However, the new Isocell JN3 sensor, which hasn’t been released yet, is expected to deliver impressive wide-angle performance for the S25 Ultra.

*-probable specs

It’s reasonable to anticipate that AI will play an even larger role in mobile photography and filmmaking with the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Samsung invested heavily in machine learning and artificial intelligence this year in order to improve its photography capabilities with their superior “cameraphone.”

As if that weren’t enough, we can also anticipate the yearly changes to image processing algorithms and standard software modifications. As a result, we should anticipate enhanced image stabilization, improved low-light performance, and, ideally, even better portrait capture capabilities. And without the 10X periscope camera, perhaps even 100x Space Zoom!

Galaxy S25 Ultra storage

The UFS 4.04-lane storage processor from Samsung, which has the potential to support almost 8GB/sec, may be the first phone to be included in the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. Compared to the 4GB/s of the UFS 4.0 standard now found on the majority of phones, this is over twice as fast.

As per the current Samsung roadmap, the quicker storage is anticipated to be accessible by 2025. That, in our opinion, would undoubtedly improve the device’s performance and would also significantly strengthen Samsung’s Galaxy AI on-device.

We expect the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra base model to have 256GB of storage, with 512GB and 1TB likely to be available as well. A higher-end model with 16GB of RAM is reportedly rumored to be available in addition to the standard model with 12GB

  • 512 GB
  • 1TB

Galaxy S25 Ultra design

More information about potential design modifications for the next Ultra model was provided by a recent report that included renders of the model alongside the present one. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra seems to be heading toward rounded corners, which would give it a more Galaxy Note-series-like appearance.

Additionally, a design twist for the central frame of the Galaxy S25 Ultra was alluded to by Samsung leaker Ice Universe. It is anticipated to feature a rounded back and a straighter front close to the display rather than adhering to a completely straight or curved frame. The phone can have a new appearance and feel thanks to this asymmetrical design.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra may appear somewhat less aggressive overall than the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, and according to another recent leak, it will have more rounded corners, which will give it a smoother appearance without sacrificing its very elegant design.

Generally speaking, hearing something from multiple sources is a good sign that it is true. A recent batch of reports claims that Samsung is forgoing sharp corners in favor of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. A dummy unit of this high-end phone that has surfaced has these rounded corners. A Galaxy S25 Ultra case leak also suggests some significant ergonomic improvements.

According to rumors, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will be 162.82 x 77.65 x 8.25 mm in size. The Galaxy S25 Ultra may be somewhat taller in addition to being thinner and narrower than the Galaxy S24 Ultra, which measures 162.3 x 79.0 x 8.6 mm.

We are also fairly certain that Samsung will continue to use the titanium frame. Since it was a key feature of the Galaxy S24 Ultra, we anticipate that it will continue to be available for many more generations.

Naturally, the Galaxy S25 Ultra specs sheet will continue to include other standard features like the integrated S Pen and IP68 water and dust resistance.

A recent report has also revealed the potential color choices for the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The top-tier model is expected to come in:

  • Titanium Black
  • Titanium Blue
  • Titanium Gray
  • Titanium Silver

You’re in for a treat if you’ve been wondering what those alleged hues would truly look like! All four of the speculated color options for the Galaxy S25 Ultra are seen in new renders that have just appeared.

Don’t miss our special article on the colors of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra for a more in-depth look at the color options for the next Galaxy flagship series.

Galaxy S25 Ultra display

Similar to its predecessors, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is anticipated to include a 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display. This OLED display’s resolution is likely to stay at 1440 by 3080 pixels, providing a respectable 500 ppi of sharpness. You will therefore be unable to discern between individual pixels as a result.

Because of LTPO 3.0, it is reasonable to predict that the display will be extremely smooth. Depending on the situation, this feature will allow the screen to dynamically vary between 1 Hz and 120 Hz.

The special Gorilla Glass Armor was one of the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s greatest new features; it largely removed glares and thus significantly boosted the readability of the screen outside. We genuinely hope this feature returns because it was a popular favorite, and we completely understand why.

Additionally, as smartphone manufacturers constantly strive to surpass one another, display brightness has emerged as the new battlefield. It seems probable that Samsung will give the Galaxy S25 Ultra an even brighter display than the one on its predecessor in light of this continuing trend.

Galaxy S25 Ultra battery

The Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to have the same battery size and charging speed as its predecessor, according to a recent report. We anticipate that Samsung will include a 5,000mAh battery in the Galaxy S25 Ultra, mostly owing to space limitations.

However, we may still witness a gain in battery life if the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite turns out to be sufficiently efficient. Furthermore, according to a recent rumor, Samsung may launch a feature known as Battery AI. It is claimed that this functionality gives the phone an extra 5% to 10% of its runtime.

We anticipate that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra will charge more quickly than the 45W wired variant that came before it. There is always space for improvement, even while the Galaxy S23 and S24 Ultras charge quickly—both can be fully charged in about an hour.

It is hoped that Samsung would also think about incorporating faster wireless charging onto the Galaxy S25 Ultra. With an official charger, the top Samsung flagship phone can currently charge at up to 15 W.

Neither you nor we should anticipate finding a charger in the Galaxy S25 Ultra box.

Galaxy S25 Ultra features and software

By the time Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra arrives, we should have witnessed the arrival of both Android 15 and the derived from it One UI 7. We might even see One UI 7.1 on the upcoming flagship phone. Not long ago, a Galaxy S25 Ultra interface mockup revealed the new One UI 7 control center

One UI 7 is shaping up to be one of Samsung’s biggest updates yet, with some major changes to both the interface and design. You can look forward to a redesigned lock screen, updated overview screen, a split Notification Panel and Quick Settings, new battery features, and new Galaxy AI features.

With the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, Galaxy AI, which made its debut with the Galaxy S24 series, will undoubtedly return. The best way to experience Samsung’s planned improvements to cloud-based and generative on-device artificial intelligence will surely be with the S25 Ultra.

One of our favorite new features from this year’s Galaxy lineup is Galaxy AI. It is our aim that Galaxy AI will not only remain but also flourish in upcoming Galaxy phones, including the S25 Ultra.

We can be sure that the next phone will be supported for at least seven years because of Samsung’s new seven-year software support strategy. This implies that support for the Galaxy S25 Ultra might last until 2032. This covers both security fixes and significant Android updates.

Speaking of updates, a recent leak indicated that Samsung may decide to use a different method to distribute them. One of Samsung’s first flagship devices with smooth A/B software updates may be the Galaxy S25 series. This could allow customers to go on using their device as the phone updates in the background, making the user experience more seamless.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Release Date
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Release Date

As previously said, we are fairly convinced that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite will be included with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. The chip, which was manufactured by TSMC, was formally unveiled in October 2024.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite has two performance cores with a maximum clock speed of 4GHz. That is a significant improvement over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3’s Cortex-X4’s 3.3GHz.

Furthermore, according to a leaked benchmarking test, the Snapdragon 8 Elite exhibits a significant increase in CPU speed and GPU energy efficiency.

Depending on the location, Samsung usually gives its flagships either Snapdragon or Exons CPUs, although this division has never happened with its Ultra models. Therefore, we believe that a Galaxy S25 Ultra with Exons is a myth.

Should you wait for the Galaxy S25 Ultra?

You should wait for the Galaxy S25 Ultra if You haven’t upgraded to the Galaxy S23 Ultra or the Galaxy S24 Ultra because you’re still using an outdated phone. The S25 Ultra has the potential to be a major advancement that is worth waiting for until early 2025, yet it is too soon to tell for sure.

You should not wait for the Galaxy S25 Ultra if you use a Galaxy S23 Ultra or a Galaxy S24 Ultra. Even if you use an older smartphone, whether it’s an iPhone or a non-Galaxy Android phone, the Galaxy S25 Ultra might not be the best choice for you unless you require a top-tier Android phone with possibly a ton of AI features.
